Social impact strategy

Social Impact Strategy

We help institutions decide what impact they exist to create, for whom, and how to pursue it — from impact ambition and theory of change through to the portfolio of initiatives that delivers it.

Impact strategy is a set of choices before it is a set of activities: which outcomes matter, which groups they matter for, and what the organisation will and will not do about them. Yomn works on those choices, grounds them in research, and turns them into a portfolio and a roadmap the institution can act on.

Impact is a set of choices before it is a set of activities

An impact strategy requires choices: which outcomes to pursue, for whom, and in what order — then a clear way to translate those choices into action. The harder part is holding that line when competing priorities arrive; without it, impact work becomes a collection of activities that are individually reasonable and collectively unfocused.

We work on the choices first: the ambition, the outcomes that matter, the groups they matter for, and how the organisation will govern and sequence the work.

How we work

Not a branded methodology — this reflects how our impact work has typically progressed.

  1. 01

    Understand the context

We start with research rather than assumption. On Negaderha we designed the study framework and delivery methodology, then engaged stakeholders through surveys, workshops and site visits before proposing anything.

  2. 02

    Define the impact ambition

What the organisation is trying to change, for whom, and over what horizon — stated clearly enough to guide decisions and trade-offs later.

  3. 03

    Build the theory of change

How the organisation believes change happens: the outcomes it is pursuing, the groups affected, and the logic connecting activity to result.

  4. 04

    Shape the portfolio and priorities

Which initiatives to run, which to stop, and in what order — so the strategy becomes a defensible set of choices rather than a wish list.

  5. 05

    Prepare for governance and delivery

Who owns which outcome, how decisions get made, and what has to be in place before the first initiatives start.

From strategy to implementation

An impact strategy that no one acts on is a document. Where it forms part of the scope, Yomn can help move from the strategy to the first initiatives — convening the stakeholders it depends on, communicating the agenda internally and externally, and designing and running the programmes that deliver it. We do not provide every capability on every project; the scope is agreed for each one.

  • Stakeholder engagement and convening
  • Cross-sector partnership facilitation
  • Communicating the impact agenda
  • Designing the first initiatives in the portfolio
  • Capability building around impact
  • Programme delivery where it is in scope

Who we work with

Foundations and donor organisations; corporate sustainability, CSR and ESG teams; government entities with a social-development or sustainability mandate; and institutions setting an impact agenda for the first time.

Why Yomn

We start from evidence, not assertion

Negaderha began with a study framework and delivery methodology, stakeholder surveys, workshops and site visits — and produced a sector guiding manual rather than a set of opinions.

We publish our own research

The Top 50 Most Impactful Saudi Companies is Yomn's own research into corporate impact in Saudi Arabia.

Strategy that reaches delivery

Several of our published projects extend from strategic thinking into programme design and delivery, as on the SFDA children's food-safety programme.

Saudi institutional context

Practical experience with Saudi foundations and public-sector institutions on sustainability and social-impact mandates.

Questions we are usually asked

What does an impact strategy actually contain?

The impact ambition, the outcomes you are pursuing and for whom, a theory of change explaining how you expect that change to happen, the portfolio of initiatives you will run, and how ownership and decisions will work.

How is this different from impact measurement?

This service is about deciding what impact to pursue and how. Measuring whether it happened — indicators, outcome frameworks and evaluation — is a separate service that usually follows it.

Do you work with corporates as well as government?

Yes. Our published impact work spans a charitable foundation and multiple Saudi public-sector institutions, and corporate social responsibility strategy is part of our offer.

Do you help deliver the strategy, not just write it?

Where it is in scope. Several of our published projects continued from the thinking into designing and running the programmes themselves.
